Frequently Asked Questions
Helpful answers to common questions about our dermatology services, policies, and more.
Our FAQ’s
Does my pet need a referral?
No, they do not need a referral. We will work closely with your primary vet to review previous records. We will also update your veterinarian after each visit to our office.
Should I bring my pet to the consultation?
Yes, the consult will include a full exam from the nose to the toes of your pet.
Do you keep a cancellation list?
Yes, we do. We also require a deposit to schedule the initial consultation. This deposit is fully refunded when we receive at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel the appointment.
How are you different from my primary vet?
Dr. Ness is a board-certified veterinary dermatologist. This means he underwent additional training, including a one-year internship and a three-year residency after graduating from veterinary school. After the training, he then passed a board exam to become board-certified in veterinary dermatology. His practice focuses strictly on dermatology, allowing him and his team to be truly specialized in their knowledge and care.
Is there a way to quickly test for food allergies?
There is no reliable diagnostic test for food allergies. The only true way to test for food allergies is to complete a veterinary-monitored diet trial.
Do you treat ear infections?
We do treat ear infections, as the ear canal is a continuation of the skin.
Can my pet's allergies or skin condition be cured?
There is no cure for allergies and many skin conditions; however, they can be managed. We are here to help build a long-term relationship to make your pet as comfortable as possible.
